Accurate Flow Measurement with Calibrated, Industry-Compliant Air Flow Tunnels
Airflow Sciences designs and manufactures air flow tunnels for laboratory testing of fans and other air moving devices. These tunnels are designed to comply with a number of industry standards including AMCA 210, AMCA 270, AMCA 610, ASHRAE 51, HVI 915, etc… Based off of a few standard designs, individual tunnels are customizable to meet the specific needs of our clients. From small tunnels (0.1- 50 CFM) used for leakage testing or small products and filters, to medium tunnels (50 – 10,000 CFM) used for fans and HVAC equipment, to large tunnels (10,000 – 100,000+ CFM) for testing large fans and complete air handling units, Airflow Sciences can build a tunnel that’s tailor-made for your application.
Common Applications for Flow Tunnels
- Fan testing and P-Q generation
- Pressure drop vs. flow rate data (for filters, valves, orifices, dampers, register vents, etc…)
- Air handling units
- Automobile climate control systems
- Many more!
Software / Data Logger
Our TunnelFlow Pro software performs data logging for all of the following parameters:
- Supplied air flow rate
- Static pressures (at appropriate test planes)
- Temperatures (at appropriate test planes)
- Ambient conditions (barometric pressure, temperature, humidity)
- Device Under Test (DUT) operating conditions (fan voltage / amperage)
- OPTION – Additional channels and parameters per the client’s request
The software allows user input of test conditions and displays real-time on-screen results during the testing. All data is logged and available for export (.csv) for instant data analysis.
Performance and Operation
As air is moved through the chamber the pressure drop is measured across the nozzle plane. Expected accuracy is +/-2% of full scale for each nozzle, and typical accuracy of calibration results are better than 1% of the reading.
